Committed to making AI ethical sustainable human

SPACE is an initiative that aims for an open source cloud portability standard: enabling organizations to switch providers without technical or economic lock-in. Against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions and regulations (RGPD, Data Act, AI Act), simple migration of applications and data is becoming a pillar of digital sovereignty. The standard covers 80% of requirements (security, execution, data, communication) and will be published as open source, co-constructed with suppliers, users and institutions.

Presentation to IESF

22/04/2025

We explain why dependence on hyperscalers is becoming an operational risk (p.3), what portability and reversibility mean (p.4), what has worked (open-source, Kubernetes) vs. what hasn’t (heavy governance) (p.6), and our SPACE proposal: an 80/20 base and standardized APIs to make migration simple and measurable (p.9).

Call for pilot projects

October 2025

  • Objective: demonstrate feasibility and measure reversibility in concrete terms (changeover time, unavailability, exit costs).
  • Who: administrations and operators of vital importance, defense, healthcare, space and their suppliers; banks, critical industries, media; European trusted cloud providers.
  • How: a multicloud pilot project deployed on at least two qualified clouds or clouds in the process of being qualified(SecNumCloud), with contributions from the business and IT sides.
